Default A little fish breeding business?

I am interested in starting a home based small fish business. Just a few species that I could sell online and more over time if I start to make some money. I have had alot of different types of fish so I'm pretty experience at keeping different ones. What would sell the most though, and be pretty easy to breed. Something that people would buy and don't take 3 months or something just to breed. I have the tanks so no worries there and I can get the heaters and etc pretty easy too.Just not sure what people will want to buy exactly, thanks for anything though.

Guppies are real good at multiplying. That's why I bought them in the first place, lol. I don't think they're worth much, but they all have different patterns and colors in their tails that make them unique and beautiful little fishies ^_^

Livebearers are the easiest to breed, guppies yes, but they're a dime a dozen these days UNLESS you breed show-quality gups, which is a tough business to get into. I personally have no clue what breeders and collectors look for in a "pedigree" guppy.I bred betta fish for a while but it's VERY time-consuming, with a high mortality rate (both for the fry as well as the parents who would beat each other up after mating!) But betta fish usually sell fairly well, especially if you have some beauties that would go for $20-$30 a pop online.Cichlids are also relatively easy to breed, depending on the species, are a popular aquarium fish AND are colorful and bright. Ultimately it's up to you. In all honesty though, if you're looking to make this your main source of income, I wouldn't get your hopes up. If it's just a hobby on the side that happens to rake in a few extra bucks each month, perfect!

How about killifish, some sorts have eggs that you can wrap in moss and send in the post- you see them for sale on ebay sometimes.

Default A little fish breeding business?

I wish you all the very best of luck in your new venture!Having run a successful bish breeding bsuiness from home (With Discus), Here are some tips that may help: ** Speak to a few people first, visit forums and shops to find out what sort of fish people are after, and what is in short supply. ** Where possible, avoid breeding fish that are easy, and produce hundreds of babies. You will NEVER make much with these fish - there's just too much competition and will will quickly flood the market.** Certain types of catfish, and cichlids seem to be very popular and offer quite reasonable returns to the breeder who produces quality fish. ** Focus on fish that are harder to breed, and produce small numbers of fry. You won't have as many fish to sell (And therefore to look after), but you'll make many times more on each one you DO sell.**If you do want to stick to the more popular types of fish, then focus one rare color varieties etc ......You need to ask yourself - Why would anyone want to buy from me? Hope the above points get you thinking .......................

Hi

Its a brilliant idea, i think you should go ahead and do it.
It is important to start a business in right time.
You have an idea, you act upon it in time or else it may get late and u have to face competition later.
