I was recently given the pink slip by my company. I really do not know how to pay my bills next month. Can I get into some business of some kind?

Yes you can. However, success is dictated by a range of factors including;

- individual capability
- the business proposition
- market timing and positioning

... to name just a few variables.

However, starting a business does cost money. At Business Switch we make sure that what you get and how much it will cost is clearly detailed so you can budget for it. Watch out for people wo do not give you fixed prices.

In your case, as you state you are unable to pay next month's bills, we would have to advise you not to start a business ... unless you have some generous friends/family around who are willing to act as financiers to you and the business for the next 6 months plus.

Great advice from the start up sage.
Most business failures are due to the lack of contingency funds, not enough money to advertise, run or maintain the business.
My personal advice would be to get a part time job, and look to put some of your time into starting a small business as an aside to the job, then one day, it may be able to take the role as your full time job.

Cheers,

Hi there Denis. Don't fret, there's always hope. Would you mind telling your former field of work, skills, or fields of interest so we may be able to point you to a prospective direction that would suit you? There's money to be made on the Internet, depending of course if you land your interest and skills with the right one to have a better overall experience.
