I am finding it hard to get customers to buy from my site, i asked people about buying from me and most people said the same thing that they woudnt buy online unless they really knew the company and was cheaper than the high street.
Can this be done for small start ups, the products i sell at the moment if i sold one i would be making minimal profit, any advice is welcome.

Thank you

Websites take time to produce results in most cases. You have made a good start by asking people what they think about buying from you. You need to ask your potential customer why they would and wound not buy from your site.

If I came across your website I wouldn't buy for the simple fact I could get the same products cheaper from other places that I have used before.

I suggest adding an 'About Us' page that gives a brief overview of you and your business. You also need to try and develop a USP. Ask yourself, if you were a customer why would you buy from your site instead of Play or Amazon?

What promotion has been done and how long for?

You can't put a site up and expect the sales to be flooding in. Especially if you've just launched. It takes time, hard work, and dedication to get a site bringing in a viable number of sales.

Its also important to think about what makes you different from your competitors. Can they trust you? Looking at what your selling, what makes you any better from the likes of Amazon? You might undercut them slightly, but people know they will deliver. How do they know you will?

Wheres the details about your company? If somebody's going to buy a PS3 from you, wouldn't they want to know who you are? Its recommended that you get the site functioning correctly before promoting it. Get a few beta testers and follow-up their feedback. Ultimately, when somebody comes across your site, you want them to stick around.

On that note, why not get some useful information on there. Maybe a glossary, or even some product reviews. Not only will this give visitors a reason to stop at your site, but it will also really help you to gain search engine positions. I did notice you had the Blu-ray guide up, but expand on this and get different topics going.

Give it time and keep at it!

You are in a very over populated marketplace and one that is driven by price. There is no way to or very little room to add value. Personally I think it's bad judgment on your part as you will not be able to compete wit hhe big boys even if you had an endless amount of money (unless you bough play.com).
