Default Starting a Business Website

Hello I have been selling on Ebay for a while now and I was just wondering when setting up your own .com website, I know there is a yearly fee but also if you are selling lots of items over your website, would you need to sort things out with your bank so when members buy items from your website the money will go straight into your bank? and also what about tax? would i need to set up a proper traders buisness? I havnt really looked into it much yet so just thought id ask on here first to get some professional advice, also I went to a web design shop in my town to find out an average price for them to design me a website and they said ill be looking at around $900, is that a bit to much or about right? If anyone could give me any advice I would be really greatful !

My best advice for you is to go to getafreelancer and post your project there. You can limit the price that you will be spending by setting a limit. You can also choose from the bidders who can do your work.

Creating a Webstore is very easy, I can help you out there.
But you will need to be registered as a business and pay tax legitimately to go any further. I think a figure of $900 is excessive but that may include a logo and all that..
Step 1 for you is to set up as a sole trader.

There is no yearly fee if you run sales from your website. Only the cost of running your website.

Open a merchant account with your bank, try smaller bank, eg. St.George. Money will go straight to your account when sale is done.

If sale is done within australia, you have to charge GST. For overseas buyer, no GST. In terms of personal tax, profits (revenue - expenses) will be added on the top of your income.

In reality, it is only required to open a merchant account with the bank. Trade Name would cost you about $65-80, check on gov.au website.

Could be both ways, depending on the amount of own effort you are able to allocate for this setup.

There are many more questions will have to be asked and answered, you better stay with the eBusiness company where your moves will be supervised.

My regards
