I'm new here and hope I don't step on anyones toes but my suggestion would be as follows:
1. Get a web host that uses Linux, Mysql & PHP for around 2 or 3 dollars a month
2. Get a domain name which some provide for free if you host with them
3. Install Joomla 1.5 (free software) and install VirtueMart (free software) but wait for new version out later this week. VirtueMart has a install package that includes Joomla
The install is very easy, you FTP the folders to the web site, after you upload type in your website address and follow the instructions, has like 4 steps to it then you manage and add items from your browser.

If you want to get online as cheap as possible I don't think it gets any better. There is a learning curve but you don't have to learn HTML code etc...

Hope this helps

Just one mistake there. Very often those free domain names end up in the name of or control of the host and if you decide to leave they don't want to let you take the domain with you. They'll use the domain to hold you hostage, or you get a new domain and lose the benefits of the one you had.

ALWAYS buy you own domain, in your own name. You go into business to control your own destiny, why let someone you don't know have control of one of your most precious assets?

Go to GoDaddy or a similar registrar and buy your domain. Don't buy any of the other stuff they offer, it's over-priced and they under-deliver. But do get your own domain. Forget free, it's like a lease around your business if you want to move on.
