Can you buy direct from the manufacturer?

I am starting to sell items on ebay over the summer in order to make a little extra cash while I am in school. I figure the best way to make the most available profit would be to buy wholesale lots of electronics from the direct source in china/japan, can anyone help me on how I could do this or even if I am able to?

i know you can buy rejects really cheap...sometimes you can't even notice it's a reject but it doesn't have warranty
