Default Directing eBay traffic to website.

Hi guys,

We do a fair turnover on eBay at the moment and know that alot of our website/direct sales are from eBay exposure.

Was just wondering if anybody has some good methods they are using within the rules of eBay to divert traffic off ebay.

So far the tecniques we are using are:

Website address on About Me page.
Phone number in listings for any question about listings.
Email address for any queries also, which is info@(website).com.au
Have our business hours listed so people know we are a physical business.
Will list our business address, but are moving to larger premises in 1-2 months right now.

Are there any we are missing?

Can you say something like:
For more details about delivery, opening hours and FAQ, etc, please visit our website. (But don't actually list the website address in the listing hoping they will be able to figure it out themselves?)
I don't see this breaking the rules.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the pressure of keeping a good feedback score on eBay, currently over 3000 with zero negs. But, people can be really impatient with ebay and expect instant service and communication can be slow through ebay messages.

That is the reason I want to take as many sales as possible off eBay, but keep listing at fixed prices as we do for the amazing exposure it gets.

Thanks

Spider

Hello Spider,
Here are some good ones that have worked for me and people I associate with:
1. Take a few photos of you premises and put them in each of your ebay adds.
2. Since ebay scans for links in adds you can use a picture of your website address. For example if you have a header in your ebay adds put your website address in it.
3. You can watermark all your pictures with your website address.

I hope this helps, Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply.

1. Taking picks of our business premises and showroom to list on ads is part of my plan, just waiting a couple of months until we move to our new larger warehouse/office/outlet.

2. I don't believe you are allowed to do this?
Won't competitors report the listing as a violation, I've seen it happen many times before.

3. We do watermark our pics with our business/website name, but leave off the .com.au as this would be the same as point 2 mentioned above.

I believe you can't mention your website at all on listings in any form.

Is there any way around this in the rulings?

I may get away with having my website address in the background of some of my premises/showroom pics, but don't want to make them too obvious, to avoid the competition reporters for a listing violation.

Thanks

Spider

You are correct in saying that you are not allowed to display your website in Picture form, but I know people who have been getting away with it for years.
It depends if you have a lot of competition for the products you sell and how jealous they will get.
I would defiantly have pictures of the website when it comes to taking photos of the premises. Another good thing I have been doing is throwing in a business card or two with every ebay purchase. Has them looking at the site quite often. Cheers Dave

I think as Dave says, If you can get away with picture links you should do it.
But if you are a large seller you will be reported quickly, so it wouldn't be worth it.
Business cards with every purchase sound like a good idea.
