Default Dishonest retail price!!!

I recently purchased a handbag for $152 as the seller said the bag retailed at $419. This is incorrect as the retail value is only $129 - bag is still current stock! Seller will not return my emails and has listed another bag (same type) with the same retail value. Is this against the "rules"??

Unfortunately, that is where you have to do your own market research before buying. The bag may well retail for $419 somewhere in the world, it may not, but how do you prove it? I don't think it is against the rules.

Did you buy the bag because you thought it was worth the $152 you paid, or did you buy it because you thought you were getting a realy good deal?

What an unfortunate situation for you!

I don't think there's very much you can do however, as really you should have checked the retail price prior to making your purchase. The seller may well be telling the truth, the bag may be for sale somewhere at that higher price.

Presumably the bag was something you wanted anyway, so enjoy it & look upon it as lesson learnt for next time perhaps.

Did you buy it on eBay?

eBay is know to have grossly over inflated RRP's listed, even more than youe case for some items.

Check out this example:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-26-ALLOY-...QQcmdZViewItem

Bike "worth" $999 RRP only sold for $142.50 !!!!
Now that is a bargain, until you go to K-Mart and find it for $149.

RRP is only a rough guide, can be very rough at times.

Yep..There are no rules on ebay or otherwise against this, as other people have advised you should do your research before buying!
