A few of my Ebay tips
Hi I just thought that I'd share a few of the tips that I used when setting up my Ebay business years ago, they are fairly basic, but might help some people who are new or just starting out.
1. Never list for less than you are happy to sell for!
In my opinion listing for .99c or less than your cost is just crazy!
2. Be clear and concise with your descriptions, explain as much as you can.
3. Add as many pictures as possible.
4. End your listings when people are likely to be home, my most successful finish times were always Monday or Tuesday, between 7 and 9pm.
5. Answer any questions as quickly and as accurately as possible.
Even stupid ones, and you will get stupid ones!!
6. List your terms and conditions, this sets out a minimum guide of when people have to pay you etc.
7. Email / contact your buyers ALOT! It gives people peace of mind, and costs nothing.
8. Send the sold items ASAP, buyers are excited about the purchase and want it as soon as possible.
9. Always leave feedback.
10. Relist unsold items, you will get a credit on the listing fee if it sells, but I personally never ever relisted more than once, it starts to cost too much!
11. If you are selling a lot of things, get an account with Australia post, you can manage all your deliveries online and it will save you around $500 per year.
That's all for now!
Good luck and hope you sell heaps!!
Cheers,

Thanks for the tips
Jamie,
Basic tips but interesting .... How come Monday & Tuesday are better than other nights of the week? (Is the TV worse?)
Also, you may have some experience of this ... is it worth advertising your smallest size item to keep the listing fees down with comments in the advert that you have other sizes available & typical costs?

Hi esellart,
Monday and Tuesday are better than other nights because people are more likely to be home, not out, like you would expect on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
There tends to be less on television on both of those nights, and also over the last 6 years I have completed over 3000 online auctions through several different business's and the collected stats show that these 2 nights have a completion (sale rate) of 69% on average where other days / nights have a sale completion rate of 52%.
I have never really had much success with listing multiple sizes in one auction, but that said, I have never really tried to sell products like that, it may work. I have had people contact me asking if I have other sizes of items.
As for the Ebay lisitng fee's, I am not that concerned with them as I make sure my listings are started at the very minimum that i am happy to sell at, which already has the listing fee's approximately calculated and included.
Hope this helps.

Awesome tips Jamei! In addition, never forget to post your offerings on your social networks like Facebook, Twitter and others. And if you don't have these yet, go make one! It doesn't hut to stretch your online presence farther!

Hi Joni,
I agree with you 100% there.
It is all about for lack of a better term "e-presence".
Also I must reinforce that the tips listed in this thread are aimed at beginners, people who have not really got any experience with Ebay, or online selling.
Cheers,

You have some really good point, I just wanted to say that using Australia Post isn't always the best option. You can get much better prices when you start looking around here are a couple of other Australia Courier companies I have used Fastway Couriers, Star Track Express and Australian Air Express, they have all been cheaper then Australia Post in my experience.
