mobile phone scams,just be-aware,bit of advice

some sellers are being ripped off by sending good working phones,(not just phones, cameras ,psps etc) only the buyer to send it back saying its faulty and getting a refund either by seller or by bloody paypal.... what they are now doing(or been doing for a while is buying the working phone and sending back a faulty/stolen one, its really opened my eyes, i will only trade items with value in person, or postal order because paypal really does suck and side with the buyer ,end of. If you must sell your phone, write down the imei number, infact take a picture if you can of box and inside the phone,psp camera, usually these have there own seriel number, and in bold writing mention what you have done and that you are aware of the scams.

wow. this is new. to me, at least.
im more familar with sellers being the scammers.
but this one's different.

I was thinking of using Ebay to sell my items. This is quite scary. It is much safer to use money order to get your money.

This is really shocking. I never heard of such a thing before. Thanks for sharing it Nick, it would really help everyone in this forum and ones who get through it. It is scaring to just hear don't know how can one face it.

Hi everyone, you really do have to be careful sometimes. i was scammed into selling a phone to somebody in Nigeria without actually recieving the payment. what happened was they sent me email from ebay telling me to send the item as they had paid directly to nochex which is a bank that ebay does business with but it was all fraud mail. I ended up losing around 400 dollars...

Oh thats very sad to hear 12.14 but unfortunately its a popular scam commonly referred to as the Nigerian Ebay Scam or 419 scammers. they have set up anti fraud departments in Nigeria just because of the amount of fraud that goes on there. here is the site for it:

Thats right frank z i put some research into it and it is a fairly organised scam. the emails they sent me looked completely real, the sad part is ebay could easily help prevent this sort of thing from happening but just having a warning on the front page or something but theyre afraid they will lose customers due to confidence levels regarding security.

12.14 as a guide try to be more wary of people who want to make it more profitable for you with little rewards for themselves. this is especially true in poorer countries such as ones in africa and asia and to some extent south america as well. so if you ever travel to any of those countries beware and dont make yourself look ridiculously tourist like.
