Starting a business eventually. Help I can't think of many ideas?

I'm in college and i'm a computer engineering major. I'm looking to make an extra buck as best as I can. I can build computers as I built my own and I was thinking of starting a computer business of some sort through ebay sometime this year where I can build and sell colorful computers. Is this feasible? Also I'm having trouble of thinking of business ideas for the future involving computers. All my potential ideas seem to be taken. For example starting a computer building business was taken by michael dell which is now "Dell". How do I find another original idea? Any brainstorming tips? How do you start small? Like I can't think of how I would pay for workers if i ever get to that point. Help.Or even for making a quick buck through the web I can't think of any ideas other than selling things on ebay which I've already been doing. That one kid made the "milliondollarwebpage" but I can't think of anything else that original. What can I do?

You don't need a new business idea... you need a better business idea. Do what you love and make sure the business addresses both the pros and cons of existing business competition. You can build your own computers if you'd like. Brand yourself. An Apple IPod (tm) is an MP3 player that costs more. Coach purses are purses that get more money because of the name. Don't worry about hiring right now... consider outsourcing once you have the market and get too big. Coca Cola was developed as a home based business... look at them now. Ebay was a home based business selling Pez dispensers... look at them now. The reasons people buy things are to (a) make more money; (b) save money; (c) save time; or (d) get peace of mind. I always thought it would be cool to have a laptop that was not only colorful, but had an image (perhaps a photo) on the exterior. If you could find a way to customize the image (perhaps you could use some kind of cling film) I think people may be interested. Who doesn't like to show off their kids, pets, favorite team, etc.?
