Default Any advice?

Hi all,

Has anyone tried using a service that drives traffic to your web site?
If so, did it work?
Did you get sales? Or just traffic?
Was it worth the money you spent?
Would you refer the business to others?

I have tried free trade directories etc, have never had much luck with them, as they are crammed full of all sorts of crap and are mostly out of date almost as soon as they are published.

Would love to hear your experiences, as I am looking at going down this path myself once web site is relaunched.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jamie,

Services that drive traffic to a website are really a waste of time in my opinion.

Start off by doing the basics that don't cost:

- On site SEO (The strongest in building SE ranking)
(Meta keywords, Meta description, fresh content)

- Off site SEO and advertising
(Getting backlink from relevant sites)

I would also suggest starting a google adwords account and giving that a go. It can be very effective in getting sales. Money much better spent than on traffic.

Once your website is up and running, I will take a good look at it and give you some advice.

I have looked into google adwords and that is something that I will definately use.
As for meta tags etc, I think that goes without saying, they are as important as the front end content in my opinion.
I would appreciate you taking the time to have a look at the site when it is relaunched.
I tend to agree with you that most services that drive traffic are worthless, I am after qualified visits, people who are looking to purchase, not just cyber tourists!

Cheers,

Hello Jamie,

It is obvious that you should use meta tags in all pages, but it is how to use them correctly that makes them powerful. Make sure you use 8-12 concentrated keywords, and keywords that are of low competition.

In your area "wholesale" there is going to be A LOT of competition for keywords. There is a google tool which can help you pick less competitive keywords.
