Default buying images

Hello

Just a quick question about images?

If I wanted to have a website with images of footballers from the premiership and around the world do I have to pay for these images?

If so how can I find out how much they will be? Also stadium pictures etc...

Thanks in advance for any advice

I'm not 100% sure but I would say yes you would have to pay for them, due to copyright laws, however you could get around it by taking the photos yourself.
But it is the Internet so there is really no way anyone can really prove that you didn't take the photo yourself either I guess.

check for stock photo websites, they offer subscriptions and some you buy per image. Try clipart.com or istockphotos.com

There are some images found in Google images but some have the copyrights and are not supposed to be used. It is always better to buy images rather than find some online, but there are some sites which provide free images and don't charge any amount just google them.

I think that you can edit the images that you can found on the web in a manner that it doesn't looks like the one you copy it from. Many are doing this kind of photo editing.

Images on Google Images are very likely to be copyrighted, especially if they are images of celebrities like footballers. You can purchase some images "royalty free" (so you can use them without limit).

A friend of mine works as an image manager, selling pictures to businesses around the world. It's not something I'd ever realised existed before she started the job!

I would be very careful using photos that you have 'borrowed' from the net. I guess that pictures of footballers would be fairly easy to recognise by the photographer & I don't think they are expensive to buy the use of.

You could consider commissioning your own, then you could use them as much as you liked & even try & sell them to some image companies for use by others if they were good enough.

Do you a site for this? I'm interested on making money from my picture. Please share what you know!

I don't have details of the agency my friend works for, but take a look at this article for further general information. It's a UK article, but includes details of a number of agencies so I'm sure you can pick up ideas.
