Just finishing off my site now, what can I do better on it?

Im already doing this:

- Taking out remaining nasty default OSCommerce images
- Adding more products
- Adding more photos

But is there anything else you guys can think of?

hi im no expert but i've got a few points that you might want to look at:

1 - Maybe the use of a little bit of more colour to help brighten it up to catch the eye of potential customers

2 - I notice you haven't got an "About Us" page. Try adding some brieft information on who you are?, what you do ? and why people should buy from you? It just adds a bit more of professionalism i think.

3 - Contact details - Where possible try and give address an contact phone number - some people don't always use the email feature

Sorry if i've missed anything but overall i like the layout and descriptions of the products looks very good to me. Just sutale changes can help bring out your site more. Keep up the good work.

Oh and remeber to focus on your keywords to get your search ranking up theres lots of threads on here about it. Good luck

I can't give a phone number as this isn't my full time job. Think I will add my address though. Cheers for the advice.

cool no problem thats an interesting comment im not too sure either on that one maybe the experienced traders can comment on that.

I'll start by saying; the domain was a good choice. Nice one.

The site itself is easy to navigate, its clear, and there’s no need to search through endless pages of products. However, the aesthetics, in my opinion, seem quite bland. This really isn’t a problem; I would simply advise getting a skin custom made (once sales start to take off!).

You need to get your address on there, by law. As for a phone number, I tend to make that available upon request, quoting something like "if you would like a member of our team to call you, please leave your phone number and a good time to call” or at least something along those lines. You can spend all day on the phone and not see any real benefit (i.e. sales), so it’s not something I would advise advertising publically. That’s not to mention the people who like to call you on a Sunday afternoon.

Although, for me, the main thing which needs changing is the product images. I’m guessing these are the ones which your supplied provided? Don’t get me wrong, there is no real problem with them, but some good quality images will sell your products. It’s important to display the quality of the goods, right now they don’t stand out to me (compared to the other sellers). There was a thread on this just recently, which is certainly worth a look, you can see it here.

I’m sorry if it feels like I’ve concentrated on the negative points, it is a good site, I just felt with the above amended it would be much better.

Thanks for the comments.

The photos will be changing very shortly, they are very much a work in progress thing . Alot of them weren't supplier provided but simple scans which will be changing shortly.

I do web design at uni so the site design will be changing as the site goes on really and more colour will be added.

I will add the address later - didn't realise this is a legal requirement.

I really appreciate all the suggestions and nice comment about the domain .

Maybe install google checkout and remove the account creation process.

Remove account creation? To be honest that is standard on the net to create an account, I really don't think that will put people off. If they didnt have to make an acocunt the only details they wouldnt have to include would be a username and pass I guess so it seems pointless to me.
