Default How do I get more clients in my lawn business?

Me and My friend are just beginning a small lawn service business, and I am wondering How I can get my name, and my service out more to gather more clients. Any suggestions on how to advertise, and capture more business?

Although word of mouth is your best advertisement, target specific neighborhoods in which you want to concentrate. Around here, they leave flyers on the door and in plastic baggies with little rocks on the driveway. You can also put an ad in your town's Penney Saver in the back section where contractors and services advertise. Targeting neighborhoods works to your benefit too. Almost all of my neighbors in this 37 estate home enclave use 1 of 2 different services since we all moved in 10 years ago. Word of mouth between the first few and other neighbors worked like a charm.

Go to local stores and see if you can post a notice. A lot of grocery stores , banks and drug stores have bulletin boards for locals to sell things. Also you could take out a small ad in the local paper. At this time of year people are looking for lawn services so get it in gear or they will already have someone lined up.

Flyers, going door to door, putting signs up on bulletin boards at stores, offering current clients discounts for everyone they refer, the sky is the limit. Also as you get going don't be afraid to hire local kids and give them a summertime job - you will be able to do much more business this way and make more $$. Knew a local teen who did this, made $50,000+ just from his part time lawn mowing job.~plantgirl of http://squarefootgardenblog.com

Maybe cold canvass some select customers - (i.e. organisations with big lawns or significant jobs). Where the customer allows, and it is an ongoing contract and looks good (you need to keep it looking good) ask for signs or advertising on the property in exchange for discounting the rate?Do a few "pro bono" jobs for community organisations to get exposure. The best way though is to build a portfolio in a close area which gives value for money - so that the neighbours might consider it.
