Default How to Promote your Website????

Hey everyone. Im looking for some advice on promoting my up and coming (i.e brand new and virtually non existant lol) Designer Clothing retail website. I know there are a few people on the forum who have alot of knwoledge and experiance in this area and have talked with them a few times but havent really had the time to start up till now. Could anyone give me any advice to attract new customers on the web? Thanks for your help

I've spent quite a lot of money on advertising and find that the best advertising you can get takes some time to master but is completely free. I've tried the pricerunner/shopping.com/kelkoo thing and got very little results. I do use adsense but on on general keywords like brand names. The best advertising is free and includes links in Ebay auctions (yes I know this is not allowed but I've been doing it for years, am a powerseller and have feedback of over 500), forum signatures and online directories. The more links you have around the web, the more chance people have of finding you and the higher you go in the search engine results pages (serps). About 60% of all my traffic comes from serps from Google. About 30% of the traffic come from affiliate sites. I'm also going to be setting up a merchant account with an affiliate network which I hope shall bring many more visitors to my site.

Start with all the free stuff first once you get your site up and running like;

1. Make sure all your pages are SEO
2. Email friends and get them to email there friends.
3. List on sites that will help giving your site more exposure
4. If you clothing is for females, then join a few female forums like vogue and so on.
5. Build some quality reciprical links

Other ideas that will cost a little money

1. Sell you clothes on Ebay.
2. Use something like facebook for advertising to target age groups and gender.
3. Google/Yahoo adwords are always pretty good as well
4. Affilate Programs
5. Flyers, Radio and TV

And so on. There are plenty of ways to market your business, I would just start with the free stuff first and build from there.

Good advice abd,
Free promotional tools are always the best for a low budget.
Although I think it would be a good idea to get google awords in the future (If you need help setting up a campaign just let me know).

For an online retail set up you couldn't go wrong with email.
It's relatively cheap and you can blast out to hundreds of thousands of opt in shoppers in box's.
Just make sure you have the ability to track all your ad campaigns, so you can monitor what works and what doesn't.
Good luck with you venture!

That's a real good advice, it would be helping out everyone out here abd. As it seems to be a designer clothing retail website, this kind of marketing would be just apt to go ahead. Google & Yahoo adwords would really be helpful to greater extent.
