Default mail campaign

Hi

I am planning a mail campaign, plus follow-up calls for a secure web hosting company.

I have a few questions:
1. i was going to produce a brochure/leaflet that explains what we offer - should I also send a letter with it or just send the leaflet?

2. there is one guy who will be making the follow up calls, therefore i dont want to send out loads of mailers bu not have the time to soon after make the follow up calls - therefore how to i decide how many to send out in one batch - any suggestions on likely responses?

3. an alternative idea is to attend events that the target market sectors will be at and 'sell' our idea there - however i have no idea how to find out about these events eg. targeting education sector, there must be some sort of event that colleges (for example) go to to find suppliers or something that we could go along to and sell them servers etc?

thanks

I think a letter can work very well in personalising the mail and addressing it to a particular person. Keep the letter brief and use headers to outline the main benefits described in the leaflet. Also bear in mind that you have around 5 seconds to capture the attention of the prospect.

Ask the guy how many calls he can do in an average day. If it's 40 then send out 40 a day for 3 days. Make sure to monitor if he is keeping on top of it, but by sending it out in daily chunks, you can also pause the campaign to allow him to catch up.

Exhibition organisers and attendees hate people turning up to sell things to exhibitors and are always on the look out for them. I wouldn't advise doing this but if you do, do it discreetly.

great - thanks for your advice. maybe the best plan is to stick to mailers and calls in the first instance and move on to events when we have more to offer than just selling...

would a good idea be a business breakfast, invite potential customers along and give a little talk about the services we offer at a local hotel?
or do you think we would get just as much response from a mailer without the extra cost of a hotel?
