What methods of online promotion/marketing do you currently use and what have you found most useful?

Here's some I've used, be good to hear your experiences...

- Leaving useful comments on blog posts (with your website link)

- Running your own blog or indeed blogs

- Social networking (MySpace, FaceBook, Bebo etc)

- Contributing to forums (Such as the wonderful ABF)

- Competitions via your website

- Paid for advertising (Such as GoogleAds or ads on industry specific sites)

My most successful form of promotion is definitely my blog.

It provides fresh keyword rich content that helps my website to rank well in the search engines.

And also, I use a service called Feedblitz that converts my blog into a weekly email marketing newsletter.

Working on SEO and this is starting to bring in the visitors
Direct mail, has worked very well especially with follow up calls
Email offers to past customers

I think really you need to test what works best for yourself... as I'm sure you know it's more about the conversion than the volume.

I do get traffic to my blog by following few of the above points. Commenting on other blog posts, Social Networking, Forums are the main ones to bring traffic to my blog.

Usually this kind of contest can be found on a blog. I have one on my list; it?s called Blog for a year. This contest tends to collect money from donations made to support the winning blogger. It works this way, the more votes that you collect the bigger chance of winning the prize money. The prize will be given to the winner to blog for a year on whatever he likes. The prize is about $200,000.

Hi Bc-wholesale, like you, i also find your list of techniques useful.

I guess, today there are so many forums and lists and competitions on the web, which do you choose. Personally, I find google does most of my work for me. It's simple, and if one has a rich organic google quality, then that's great. Posts on blogs are good to help with this etc.

I think Google is the best way of paid advertising, but you should always start off with the free stuff.
