It is pretty good, but you have to make sure it doesn't destroy the appeal of your website.

Yep I agree with you commikle.
I use it on this site, simply because it is a free site and i need to pay for it somehow.
You don't make much from it, if your site has low traffic. But it is possible to make a fair bit from it.

it didn't work for me. since my site's page impressions then were a lot greater than the number of clicks. and adsense divides the number of clicks per page impressions.

That is true Annerz,
Its the same situation with many sites.
Although there are a few ways to design and position your adds too get more clicks.
But the simple equation is Targeted Traffic + Well Placed and Designed adds = Good CTR. (Click Through Ratio).
