Default When System Restore doesn't work on Windows XP, are there any other options?...?

My 68 year old father has MS Publisher 2002 that he uses for his mom and pop advertising business. Even though he can do the graphics work, he's not overly computer savvy and trying to help him by phone hasn't been easy, so I'm coming here for possible suggestions on how to help him fix this. He was using the program this morning without any issues when my sister went to his house to use his computer. From that point on, he keeps getting a message popping up saying that he needs the MS Publisher CD Rom to be able to open his files. (Main problem, he couldn't locate the disk tonight!)I had them restore his computer back to yesterdays date first (XP), then back to Monday's date when that didn't work. He's still having the same error message box pop up.I had them look in the recycling bin, but it's not there. He's upset, thinking he's lost all of is ads he's done in the past few days. Do any of you have any suggestions on how he can restore the program?

You could set up a remote connection between your machine and his. It is fairly easy to do in XP. That way you will be able to see exactly what has happened.

Windows System Restore as the name suggests, will not restore any data. So other suggestion is you need to do full backup using backup software like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image Home for full system and data protection
