Great point newterrr, for the bookworms out there, Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman is the classic capitalist manifesto.

Basic Economics: A Citizens Guide to the Economy by Thomas Sowell is an excellent introduction to economics, and a great refresher to anyone who has forgotten their basics.

I've read a ton of investment books over the years and this year was the only time I've ever given one of them as a Christmas present, and I gave it to five different people. Don't be fooled by this books title, The Little Book That Beats The Market, it's the best introductory book to investing I've ever read. It's a fast, easy read that captures the most important investment principles you'll need to be a successful investor. The writer, Joel Greenblatt, was a hedge fund manager for twenty years with 40% annual returns, but the book was specifically written for people with no knowledge of the stock market.

i must say i disagree with Mr. Cubans view that thers always a loser in terms of investment. investing is not a zero-sum game. As companies grow earnings year after year, wealth is created and those earnings are passed along to shareholders either in the form of dividends or a higher intrinsic value of those company's shares without anyone having to lose in a trade.

In my opinion, if you are out there to make money investing is not the answer.
