Default Do I need a business license or any kind of permit to sell purses?

IM starting up a small part time "business" where I will be selling purses at "purse parties". Im sure most of you have heard of this type of thing. Its wehre I buy a whole bunch of purses wholesale and I go to peoples house and set up a dispplay and they have their family and friends over and they buy purses and wallets, sunglasses, jewlery..etc. It doesnt bring in too much money, just enough to support the business and little extra cash on the side. Do I need to get some kind of permit for this? What do I need to do and where do I need to go? Should I go to city hall and ask them about this?

Go to city hall. You will neeed a business license. You will also need a sellers permit or other permit from your state to collect and send in sales tax on your sales. It doesn't matter if it is part time, it is still a business.I have heard of the purse parties where they sell knock off designer purses. Be aware if the are counterfeit purses, you can be facing legal action. It has happened around here where the police show up at your party, take all the goods and then press charges for counterfeiting.

Purse parties are all about selling fakes or counterfit items. Don't want to rain on your parade but that's what your signing up for. Also you will need a business license and a sellers permit, and you will have to get a tax id number from the IRS because anytime you generate revenue, no matter the amount, you will have to disclose it to the government. Failure to do so will result in serious consequences. Let alone your questionable business practices of selling fake designer items. Bottom line this is a very shady pyramid scheme that's mostly all work and very little pay. As you will soon see.
