Check out the government sites and maybe pay for a subscription to IBIS, MatBre.

There is a franchise registry where a lot of information can be found.

IBIS is considered by many to be the best resource for business information in Australia.

The BBB is not really a good resource since they tend to ignore complaints that don't have a lot of media support.
The other good resource, though sometimes spotty, is to run a Google and Yahoo search on the business name and 'forum' and/or 'complaints'
"businessname forum complaint" in the search box.
MSN is the more business oriented search engine in Australia. It's also pricey. Check to see if the business has an entry.

Hi David,

I'm not sure I've seen all the categories that exist yet. If nothing's been written to them, they don't appear when I log in.
Is there some sort of Preference setting to show all categories?

Hi David,
Good forum but I would like to see a space for slightly more established companies. I regard my company still in the 'small' section but we have been in oeration 4 years and quite comfortable now. Most people here seem to be trying to get a business off the ground ( and good on them) but I would like to talk to 'successful' businesses ( I am not trying to be condesending). I want to share our contacts and share others business contacts, cross sell others products and visa versa. We operate mostly with hospitality industry and not only privately owned restaurants. We have contracts with Stamford Plaza, Sea World Nara Resort, Great Southern Railways, Sushi Train Australia etc and negotiating with people like Coffee Club etc. Our product range is limited and as we have already established contacts wouldn't be too hard to push other products. We are looking for others like ourselves you can really work together to help push our businesses to another level - not so much partnerships but non-competitve mutual sharing. Is this a stupid idea?
