I would say credit card is very safe most of the time. If there is a problem, it can often be disputed and traced back to the original source. As far as paypal, some feel it is ok, others do not. Be certain that if you pay through pay (or if sell), the person at the other end of the transaction has a Paypal Verified address. This means that they have linked their social security number, credit card, or bank account to account. If they do not have a Verified account, you will not be reimbursed for any loses.

Whatever you do, never do wire transfers! Unless the person is your blood mother, wire transfers are not secure and offer no insurance or protection.

You do not say whether you are asking as a merchant selling goods or a consumer buying goods.

For a merchant selling goods in AUS having your own merchant account with the right processor is the best way to do business. When I say the right processor, there are some who side with consumers when disputes arise and there are some who are more understanding of the merchants situation. Usually, you don't find this out until something comes up, however.

From a merchant's standpoint, PayPal is definitely not on his side. No matter what safeguards they claim to have in place the simple matter is that PayPal is going to placate the customer, rather than risk a chargeback through the card company.

Again, you don't say what type of business you are referring to, wholesale, retail, whatever. If you are importing and the supplier demands a specific payment type, it doesn't matter which is safest. You play their game or do without.

I have heard quite bad experience from Paypal, but I think that I should stick with it because it is the most widely accepted form of transacting online business. I couldn’t think of any that could replace it.

I might prefer Paypal itself, I heard some really having bad experience from Paypal but I would still prefer this payment method itself. I heard real bad experiences with Credit Cards and even faced a few worse situations so I might prefer Paypal itself.
