Default Publishers Business Service- Scammed Help?

My wife Started receiving magazines from magsubs.com or Publishers Business Service. We are unsure how they received my wifes information but they started sending us magazines to our home. We thought nothing of it because we didnt sign up for it so we just kept throwing them away. They called her at work a few weeks ago and they told us we owe them money for these magazines we never signed up for. Now two months later i received a letter in the mail stating that we owe them $49.20 and if we dont pay immediatley well be reported to their local credit bereau. Now ive read up online and i am reading that its a scam and they are trying to rip people off. My question is can they really report my wife to the credit bereau for something we never signed up for. The letter didnt even have a date of when it had to be sent in by. The website was a joke and when you try calling ...no one answeres i was on the phone for 39 minutes and 45 seconds. Any advise?Anyone delt with them?

Send them a certified, return receipt letter disputing the debt. Indicate that you did not order and do not want the magazines and that until they can provide documented proof that the debt is yours, to cease and desist all contact. They will probably just back down. But keep a copy of the letter just in case. If it does pop up on your credit report, dispute it
