Are you crafty? You could make jewelry (very small cash start up. I made something like 20 necklaces from a $10 case of beads and sold them for $8 a piece). Or do you knit? You could make scarves, sweaters, cloth baby diaper covers, etc. I have one that i use... i garage sale. Like no other. I actually opened up a second hand clothing store and now buy and sell clothing, but thats so small en devour. You could start small by garage sale-ing, buying baby clothes and putting them together into outfits and then selling them on ebay. You normally pay 25 cents - $1 an item, but if you have a few pieces that mix and match, work well together in EXCELLENT condition (a lot of times people sell brand new clothes their baby never got to wear in garage sales for less than a dollar!) you can bundle it and sell it for $10 when it only cost you $1-$2. It takes patience though, i warn you. I am up every Saturday at 6am going to 20-30 garage sales. Pet care- you could offer to walk people's dogs for a set rate (a little more than what the minimum wage is in your state). Here in cali, some people charge $10 an hour to walk Rover.Pet sitting- put out fliers that you pet sit. You will go into people's homes, fed their pets, maybe water flowers and stuff, and they pay you $5-15 a day, depending on the amount of work. *they will want refrences though so they will know you won't rip them off... if you don't have any expierence, provide them with some good personal references and make sure you look nice in appearance (clean clothes, smell nice, etc) when you meet them.House sitting- like pet sitting, but you stay in their home to watch their home for them. Sometimes for only a day, sometimes for months at a time. People pay $10-30 a day depending on what they want you to do. Some require light house work, pet sitting while house sitting, but most people just want to know their house is safe and in good hands. Same * note as in the pet sitting.
