Default Becoming a dropshipping supplier

I am involved with a couple companies, one of which is quite large, and primarily are suppliers (I wont call them wholesale, as they only deal with national accounts direct, not even distributors) of electrical products.

As a new route to market, I believe becoming dropshippers may be beneficial to them.

How should someone go about becoming a dropshipper?

Is it as simple as offering products for sale that are delivered direct to consumers on customers behalf, or am I missing something?

What do potential customers want in a supplier?

any thoughts or pointers would be appreciated.

O.k, in a word, yes it is that simple, but have you considered...
A means of demonstrating / communicating with your reseller to confirm delivery / receipt of the goods?
How are you going to find the clients to drop ship for?
Freight insurance? who does the running around if a parcel goes missing in transit?

I have looked into drop shipping for my business extensively, I think unless you have a dedicated person / department for it, and are able to justify the extra costs involved in providing it, it may not be worth it.
But as with all decisions, you do your due dilligence and see if it fits with your business plan and model.

Cheers,
