My 360 got the rings and I am blazing angry =PUmm.. i was just talking with a friend who sent his defected xbox to microsoft and it took 8 weeks for him to get it back =\ Does it always take that long? and if so Is there any other methods of shipping or another option of repair?It is definitely the red rings of deathOh one more thing... I was having work done on my downstairs and the guys were using a bunch of powertools. I remember when they powered one of em' up the lights flickered and then my xbox froze.I turned it back on and it had the rings =Pis it possible a surge fried the hardware?

If there are only 3 rings, it's fried and nobody but Microsoft can really help you. I know people that have just hit the X-Box really hard and it worked again though. A surge probably wouldn't cause that, and I try to keep all my electronics on surge protectors anyways just in case. Usually the rings of death are from overheating issues.However, 4 red rings can be fixed by plugging in the A/V cords into the back of the console :P

Well I didn't even send my xBox back to Microsoft...I just wrapped it in 2 towels all aroundand unplugged the AV cables, turned it on, and just left it there for a couple of hours. Rings of death happened to me twice so far and I fixed it both times in just a few hours.

Nah, it's the 360.I got mine back in 1 week and 4 days. + a free month of xbox live.
