The Great Fuel Rip off?
If there was really a fuel shortage, to such an extent that commercial vehicles could not do deliveries for about a week. The result would be the collapse of the economy, the collapse of the government and very near social chaos. The government have taken no measures to safeguard fuel supplies because they are all too well aware that there is no shortage (yes the forecourts may run out due to panic buying). The government could have just kept quiet and said nothing about the strike, however, being in the business of collecting revenue, it instead decides to issue warnings against panic buying. They know full well that upon release of their statement, the public would panic buy and low and behold, the chancellor rakes in a few more billion in revenues. This country is not totally dependant on Grangemouth Oil refinery. Imports of oil are phenomenall, even before the strike. Are you guilty of Panic buying to fill the governments coffers?Dr NumbskullLol!Guess how much it costs to fill the old truck up?Answer - £538
