I am starting a wedding gown business do you think it would be a good idea?
I can import wedding and formal gowns for a fraction of the retail cost and I was thinking I will sell them from home for about $500-$1000 depending on how much I pay for them. These gowns are truly beautiful and very good quality. I am a bit scared tho that people will think there is something wrong with them since they are so much cheaper than in the stores. I am hoping to make enough money off the gowns so in the near future when I am off work to have children I can still bring in some sort of income to help my partner out. My questions to you are 1.) do you think this is a good idea?? 2.) Would you buy a gown from someones home, bearing in mind that we have kitted out our spare bedroom and it looks like a bridal botuique 3.) Does the price put you off or make you think that there is something wrong with the gowns??I am from Australia so the prices are different to American dollars also I have been to nearly every other bridal shop in our state and dresses are usually between $1000 - $5000 and they are exactly the same dresses I can get. I can keep my costs down by not having an actual store I have to pay rent on. As for the dresses I can get them custom made so the dresses i will have in the "store" (Bedroom) will be sample dresses and we will order each dress to the brides measurements. Advertising at first will be word of mouth (I have 3 girlfriends getting married soon and they are all buying their dresses from me) then we are going to do a 10,000 pamphlet drop to peoples houses so people know we are here and what we are about. I am not counting on this to bring in hundreds of dollars a week, but my profit off 1 dress would be enought to help out around the house for a week. There is a huge market for these dresses and I am sure it is going to work out really great.
