shocking american car quailty?
Technology on todays automobile is shared among manufacturers. For example GETRAG transmission are found on many high end cars, also Borg Warner too. That is just an example. To the smallest components like Bosch, Autolite, NiponDenso, Hitachi etc are shared too. Just look at the parts that makes the cars. The interiors are made per divisions and I admit they use some cheaper stuff depending what sector the vehicle is marketed and also, in the USA, the Auto Unions are really milking the car companies, so they do have to pay a really high wager to the employees. Other car makers, do not have the same Unions Issues. That is why a lot of them goes to Mexico were labor is cheap. Or the word is Outsource. Anyway, Holden did make a really neat platform that GM calls it Zeta. Well done down under ! Anyway, I have an 03 Chevy Impala and looks really darn good with over 80,000 miles on the odometer. The engine compartment is really clean with no oil leaks whatsoever. I change the oil 2 times a year when the maintenance computer tells me too. Never had problems and is extremely reliable. So yes I have US cars and on my personal experience they have been the best cars I ever own so far for the price that I paid. Also, I take good care of it too and clean my car frequently and do all the recommended maintenance.Edit...To answer at the other post about the GTO. It hit the market and where selling. Just Holden was discontinuing the Monaro on that body/platform and going to the Zeta platform. GM is going to use that platform for the Camaro and other cars since is a very flexible design, strong and can be made on several types of sizes. So the GTO was doomed when was brought up, the design was on the end of the life cycle. Beside, was a test on the waters with a product that was already made. Still a great car.
