I would like to apply for tax return, but I've lost my tax number.....how can I do??I'm not in Australia at the moment coz I'm overseas...(used to study and work in Australia)Can someone tell me what I should do??Also my English writting is poor, what should I write in the mail to contact Australian taxation office?thank you very very much......= =+

To get a copy of your number (it's highly confidential) you need to print out, complete and send this form with certified copies of your identification, to the ATO:This is the form for non resident (if you live overseas and were just visiting Australia temporarily):http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.asp?doc=/content/6979.htm&pc=001/002/043/001/004&mnu=&mfp=&st=&cy=1This is the form for a resident (in case you are just on holiday overseas)http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downloads/tfn_applicationform.pdfIf you have trouble filling it out just call them and ask someone to talk you through it or go into an ATO shopfront and complete it face to face with an ATO officer.
