How to change my name to hide from creditors?

Someone in Australia owes me a large sum of money after a legal stoush in which I was the defendant. He no longer uses the name he once did and sold all the assets held in that name. How can I find him to serve the bankruptcy notice on him? How can you change your name just like that?Obviously the Police and Govt have access to Tax file and Australian Business Numbers and his drivers licence etc and they can find him in this way.. but how can a private citizen find a person who has changed their identity to avoid their debts?Thanks Bella, I have given the leg breaking considerable thought over the last three years of litigation... Then I remember how I am into Karma... and I go to the gym and take it out on myself instead. I went to teh gym after asking this q... and today my quads and hammies are ouchie.. needs kisses :-(

I don't know the answer in Australia. In the States, you would hire a private investigator.

Not sure how it works over there but here in Cali I went to the courts and asked for a name change it wasn't hard to do, I then waited for the hearing date went before the judge (he had the paperwork I had filled out stating what name I wanted) then if there was no one present indicating why the name shouldn't be changed, it was granted. I had to send the forms to Sacramento and have the birth certificate amended but attached is the original birth certificate (has to remain together) got the social name changed (not the number) so as of over here Gazpacho the Government knows what his name was changed to, as for the social security since the # remained the same the debt, credit etc. followed with the social security # so I'm not sure how that guy did it. Unless it's different over there his debt should have followed even his new #, unless he has taken on someones identity (first hand experience obviously not hard to do). I hope it all works out for you (I could always take a flight over ther hunt him down and break his legs) lol just kidding ;-) that was the bad (thug) side of Bella speaking don't pay her no mind. lol
