It shouldn't be more then an hr to 90 Min's tops to do it and the pumps vary but probably about 90 to 130.00 for the pump.So about 105.00 to 140.00 for the labour if just a regular shop but if dealership you'd be paying more per hr.Personally I don't think it should take any longer then 45Min's to an hr to do. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it might be a good idea to call the dealership and different parts stores about the part price and a dealership and a few shops about the labour costs.

Too bad Helpful Bob in this case, isn't. I have worked on 4g63t motors since 1991. I have three of them. I have worked on HUNDREDS of them at the MITSUBISHI dealership I worked in for 17 years. The FACTORY part is around 150 bucks. You must remove the timing belt. Since the water pump is leaking, the belt will be soaked with coolant. It and the balancer shaft belt must be replaced. Since you're in there, and the car is 11 years old. The hydraulic tensioner and rollers must be looked at and replaced if the bearings are noisy. The five oil seals behind the timing belt cover must be changed. If you remove the belt and the motor's not at TDC, you'll bend the valves, making scrap. This is an interference motor. Take it to a COMPETENT shop.

im working on the water pump of my 98 rs. and its been kinda a pain. had to do the pump the timing belt and thermostat in the process of which i also needed to replace a pulley and my motor mount. make sure that u end up getting everything checked out when your having the work done cuz there is nothing worse than having another problem pop up right after you fix one. its been a pain but i love my car and its been worth it over all. good luck
