I am looking to possibly migrate to Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil later this year if this is possible due to a long never ending drought here. I had a close freind from Fortaleza last month come over here to see me for the first time to Australia and as Australia is in the grips of the most depressing long growing 7yr drought, seeing everyone in business here is being forced to close and going into poverty here, I am looking to migrate to Brazil to where my close freind lives in Fortaleza if this is possible? I will close my new business I have just started 6 months ago, if no rain by June and my tax return pay for a one way ticket to Brazil. What training and employment does Fortaleza offer? I am a self taught PC technician and am upto a certificate 3 standard in IT and am prepared to retrain or continue educational training if need be.Is it possible to get permanent residence in Fortaleza, Brazil as in migrating? I also need to find out how to learn to speak Portuguese too?Thankyou Kindly

Wow big ask!Yes you can apply to migrate to Brazil, there are requirements to take up residence as in any other country. You need to apply to the Brazilian Consulate in Canberra for the appropriate forms.There are several language courses available at TAFE and with the Migrant Language school. As for cert 3 in IT It may not stand you in much hope of a job in the industry much past a junior technician. The wages are not high in Brazil generally so don;t expect the same amount of remuneration you could get here in Australia.You must have a health clearance and this includes testing for H.I.V. The tests are 3 months apart so do it now.You may be in for a culture shock, so I suggest taking a holiday there first to check out how the living conditions compare to where you are in lifes staion in Australia. It's not all Mardi Gras, and thonged women on beaches looking sexy soaking up the sun. that is the image presented to the gullible tourists. Life is just so much different when you look under the skin!

for the Portuguese lesson I can reccomnd Pimsluers method. no reading or writing a greatr system for learning I was speaking Port. very fluently in about a month on the program. Great for meeting Brasiladas!
