Default My employer said I won't be getting a T4 slip, and will be working as a contracter....?

What should I do? Is this legal. I am soo confused.More info:I get paid $10/h by cheque. The business is his own, entrepreneurial venture. I get to work at home.I don't want to go to jail.

I think it is legal, but if Canada is anything like the US, what he is trying to do is avoid paying type of taxes as an employer, which means that you will have to file all your taxes as being self employed instead of being employed by him. You will probably be screwed over in a year.

Yes you can be a contractor. There is a 4 part test and based on the information your provided it does seem like it would be possible to view you as a contractor. The benefit of this is that your employer doesn't have to worry about deductions and withholding. You still have to pay income tax you just don't get a T4. You have to figure out how much you made by looking at your cheques and adding it up yourself.
