A.)Betty goes to the sales and finds a dress reduced from $145.95 to $79.50. What is the percentage reduction?b.) The shop purchases the dress for a cost price from the wholesaler. The shop keeper then adds a profit margin of 65%, and then also adds GST to arrive at the sale price of $145.95.What is the cost price of the dress?c.) Did the shop make a profit on this dress in the sales? Justify your answer. If you can only answer one of these questions thats fine!if you can do them all thats great!lol my maths book doesnt say what the GST is(lol stupid ay)Thanks people for answering without the GST number =)GST NUMBER IS 17.5%!!!

A) The dress is marked down ~45.5%B) Without knowing what the gross sales tax % is, this is impossible to answer.C) If GST is under 10%, then the deal made a profit. If the dealer bought the dress for $80, marking it up 65% would take the price to $132. Adding another $13.20 on for 10% sales tax would bring it to 145.20, which is below the original sales price... This is as good as i can do without knowing the GST %.

Á) If 145.95=100% then 79.50=x%then (145.95/100)=(79.5/x)so x=(79.5*100)/145.95therefore x=54.47%finally the percentage reduction is 100%- x%100%-54.47%=45.53%B) this question depends on how much is the GST if it is in percentaje, then lets callx=cost price of the dressand the GST will be (GST percentage)/100$145.95=(x+65%profits+GST)since 65% are profits you have to get this for you, and you got to pay to the wholesaler so$145.95=(1.65x)*GSTfinally x=88.4545/GSTC) this will also depend on the GSTTHERE YOU GO FELLA!

Don't read this if you don't want to (begin to) understand.First Question. What IS the question? It is "What is the % reduction?" So you have to be sure you are answering the right question. 79.5 is 53.02% of 149.95. But the reduction is NOT $79.50, it is how much was cut from the price or 149.95 - 79.50 = 70.45. 70.45 is 46.98% of 149.95. So the price was reduced by 46.98%B.) Where I live, we don't have a GST (Genreal sales tax) but even if we did it probably would't be the same as yours.First what is the question? The question is: "What is the cost of the dress (to the shop owner)". Second, what do we know? well we know that the cost of the dress, plus 65% of that cost and the GST on all of THAT is $149.95. Put it in an equation. Lets call the cost "C".$149.95 = C + (0.65 x C) + (GST x C )+ (GST x 0.65 x C)since 65% = 0.65.I can combine terms149.95 = 1.65 x C + 1.65 x C x GSTThats as far as I can go since I don't know your GST. If it was, like 10%, then I could plug that into the equation like this:149.95 = 1.65C + 1.65Cx0.1 = 1.1 x 1.65 x Cso 149.95 /(1.1 x 1.65) = C = cost = $82.62 and so he lost $3.12 but that assumes a GST of 10%.

a) first find how much was reduced. 145.95-79.5=66.45 then divide the difference by the original price. 66.45/145.95 =45.5% reductionb) i dont know wat a gst is
