Default Should the USA, ban inheritance?

Inheritance is receving the work of others usually stored in property or assets, usually by birth right but a person can choose a charity or other institution through a legal document of their choosing. Now to recieve an inheritance the reciever has done no work or added any benefit to society. Frequently these recievers in turn , inherit success the people, contracts and relationships that come with the property(Marx would be proud of himself, now.), as apposed to start from nothing and building your business, or successful life. Many time these people have well practiced stores like, oh my family was poor once, or I come from a poor country so i must be poor right? Well in fact 90% of their success was handed to them, is this fair, or right? If so then what is the difference if the government says you can pick anyone you want but not your own children? Or if the governement took the inheritance and gave it to some nobody...Isn't that the same as giving inheritance to your kids? You claim they DID something, what exactly did they do to deserve this?"To withhold an inheritance from someone is to punish them for something they did not do, regardless of how worthy they may or may not be."Inheritance is not a gift. Legally or otherwise. Check your local tax laws they treat them differently as do I.It is your property when you are alive, it is not yours when you are no longer with us...sniffle.You could think of welfare an inheritance, if your family shows you how to milk the system before they die, but how can you be for inhertiance, yet not welfare? In a way is not inheritance private "welfare"?

It is my right to give what I worked for to whomever I want, including my children.Any restriction on inheritance is a limitation on the right of ownership and property.Let's see - I also think that anyone who wins the lottery should have to give the winnings to the State. And instead of giving you a birthday present, your friends should have to give it the the government who will find someone totally unworthy wo gift it to.

So exactly who should get the money or property when a successful person dies. If you think about it for a bit you may realize what you propose makes no sense at all. To withhold an inheritance from someone is to punish them for something they did not do, regardless of how worthy they may or may not be.

Well, according to your logic, all gifts should be banned. No more bday gifts, no christmas gifts, no gifts ever at all for anyone. An inheritence isnt something that is earned, it is a gift. Have you never received a gift in your life? Do you currently refuse gifts because you did not do anything to earn or deserve it?

You've got to be kidding me! In America, we are "free to choose". So if I bust my ass, go to college, become a successful person, I shouldn't be allowed to leave my money to anyone I want? Whether it be my children, who would get it if they deserved it, or anyone else in the world, I worked for that success and that is just ridiculous (and something the democrats would someday pass) that I couldn't leave it to who I wanted.Who exactly do you think wealthy people should leave it to? It most likely would go to the government who would use it to keep more people dependent on welfare and to fund other "social programs". I have heard it all now! What kills me is that people like you think that people who are smart, educated, and have worked their way up the ladder of economic status from poor to wealthy should apologize to the poor and give them everything they have. (They already do have to give them a lot of it!) Every person born on this earth has free will. You choose your own path. You can work hard and become a successful, wealthy person or you can sit around and whine about why you're not getting more handouts than you already are by not trying to get even a high school education, much less a college degree, then, without that high school diploma, refuse to get the only jobs that are either available or that they're qualified for because "they ain't flippin burgers for minimum wage". They're too good for that so instead they just sit home and stay on welfare, always crying about how unfair life is, complaining about what they are getting for free just isn't enough to live on, yet, they have never even tried, much less know what its like to work hard and become successful. So, if the wealth shouldn't be passed on to one's children, in your opinion do you also believe welfare should also not be allowed to be inherited? Generation after generation do inherit wealth if you're a CEO of a fortune 500 company, but also welfare inherits welfare in the same respect. Children who grow up with parents who don't even try to better themselves, usually inherit this from their parents too, breeding another generation of laziness. So if your inheritance law would apply to this too, I may be more open to the idea.
