Default Who wants lower gas prices ?

The cost of a barrel or gallon of gasoline is excessive. The refining process has changed very little since gasoline was 25 cents per gallon. The difference is corporations are setting a price according to their profit forcasts. It amounts to an arbitrary method of undemocratic Taxation. The public can set the price per gallon at $1.00We can select one oil producer to use exclusively. The other companies will have to reduce their price or go out of business.Let’s initiate a campaign to bring some order to this chaos.

The weekend is coming up. I think those who can should stay home and not fill up their car for the entire weekend. We also could get organized and take turns during the week when we choose days to not buy any gas.I am reading that the gas stations are responsible for the prices. This just is not true. Gas stations make the biggest profits on other items that are sold in the station. Usually there is only $.05 a gallon profit on gas and less.

Won't work. For one thing, not everyone uses yahoo answers. Heh heh...And the same gas stations are not used throughout the entire country. Plus, they need to pay the providers of the gasoline for it, and the provider's will not lower thier prices just because a few gas stations are getting less business.

It won't work that way. People don't set the gas prices and no campaign will ever allow that. Like everything else, it depends on greed, profits and power.

This would be great, but we tried it in Columbus, Ohio a few months ago, and it didn't seem to work. It could have been that people got that date wrong or just didn't feel like doing it. What ever the case, it needs to be broad casted over the entire US. Every one needs to do it together and for more then just one day. The week end thing sounds good too. But alot of people put what they want to do in front of what needs to happen for the greater good.

The people don't reserve the right to change gas prices lol. Since the people who sell gasoline are private companies, we don't have control over that and niether does the government.

Have you been paying attention to the oil and gas executives talk to Congress about their record profits? It is in line with other industries. I wonder if anyone said yes, but this is an item that people actually need. It's not a want or nice to have. It's a need. There aren't many or any substitutes available. It is morally and ethically wrong to do what they are doing. This sounds a bit drastic. The government needs to take away their tax breaks post haste. That would be a start and then give that money back to taxpayers starting with the middle class.
