Default Why am I called narrow-minded just because I don't like illegal graffiti?

I worked really really hard to get a property as I come from a very poor family. I started a small business in it and I painted it the way I liked it. After all, it is my property. However, every day there are new tags on its walls, which makes me feel really powerless since I feel these taggers have no respect for my property and I can't do anything about it. I don't want to send them to the police, I just want them to understand how much damage they are doing. When I tell somebody I'm against illegal street "art" I get very hostile responses, I'm called narrow-minded and insensitive for not allowing these people to express themselves through their art. I am really confused. Why do most people in the internet community support vandalism?I have been suggested to paint my walls with legal graffiti pieces to avoid tagging. I like legal graffiti, but why can't I just have my business look the way I want? After all I worked very hard to get to this point. Thanks for your answers

I would like to interject that as an artist and Art History major (one who studies art in a cultural context), I also find illegal graffiti to be completely rude and obnoxious. Most of it is a result of talentless people who never grew out of writing their names on the walls at home. Now, I don't know what sort of business you're running; perhaps it's highly controversial and this is a form of opposition. Doubt it, though.Honestly, people try too hard to look like they're open-minded intellectuals by saying that it's a form of self expression. You know what? We have an entire context for people who want to do that. It's called Fine Art and it costs just as little as the cans of spraypaint and the backpack to hold them in its execution. And if you're lucky, you can sell it. Try selling the side of a bridge...
